Sarah (Jennifer Connelly) is left alone at home with the task of babysitting her baby brother Toby (Toby Froud). She tries to read him a story in an attemp to make him fall asleep, but she cannot succeed and starts getting a little angry, and at some point she says she wishes the Goblins would take her little brother. Surprisingly the thing she would never expect happened, the Goblin King, Jareth (David Bowie), stole the baby and said that if she didn't rescue him by midnight he'd become a Goblin.
Sarah needs to go to Jareth's castle in order to find her brother, but she will have to go through a huge labyrinth before she can reach the castle. The labyrinth is extremly big, with all kinds of different halls and weird creatures. Some of the creatures actually decide to help Sarah find her brother. Some wont help, and she'll have a lot of trouble going through this dangerous labyrinth by herself. Will she be able to reach the castle and rescue Toby?
There is not a single kid that wouldn't enjoy this film. I remember watching it for the first time when I was six or seven years old and I really liked it. The creatures are pretty funny and fun to watch, that is, of course, from a kid's point of view. From my current point of view, if I had to make a single comment about this film I'd say: Jennifer Connelly is one of the hottest actresses around. I don't think kids care a lot about acting, so David Bowie as Jareth was pretty fine, and everything else was just right. If you're a kid -which is very not likely- or have kids, then you could rent this film. And if you're an adult that belongs to the Male gender, then you could rent it too just to watch how gorgeous Jennifer Connelly was (still is!) even at age 15.
