Steven Seagal, what can you expect from him? A bad action packed movie is what you can expect. On Deadly Ground follows his normal routine of kicking peoples asses with alot of action mixed in between. But the million dollar question is "is it good?" Nope, not even close to being a guilty pleasure movie. It was just a bad all around movie with one high point (i'll get to that later). The acting and directing was horrible. Oh, and who directed this film? Steven Seagal himself. He makes his directing debut with this beyond horrible film. And he also produced it. What a damn waste of money this film was. It blows goats for quarters.
You want the rundown of the plot. Well, I don't why you do, but here you go. Seagal is a fireman working to put out oil fires on Michael Caine's oil rigs in Alaska. He is then tipped off by a rig foreman that the preventers are bad and that Caine is causing the accidents on purpose so he can open up a new rig on an eskimo site. The reason he is blowing up the rigs? I have no freaking clue. There really isn't any reason whatsoever. Anyway, Caine finds out the Seagal is now in the know and he tries to have him knocked off in an explosion. But come on, you think Seagal is gonna die? Hell no. He survives, gets rescued by eskimos, and goes on his marry little way fucking up Caine's plans. And being the typical ending to a movie, he does fuck it up.
Steven Seagal plays his usual self. Nothing out of the ordinary. He is all calm and reassured with that tone of voice he has. Michael Caine is beyond bad. It's almost as if they didn't even give him a script. Very, very poor acting on his part. And the rest of the cast, you don't even want to know. It's just bad. Remember I told you before about the high point? Well, here it is. There is one really damn hot lawyer chick. Believe me, she is all hot in her business-woman type clothing. Very nice. And that native american chick that went with Seagal was pretty hot too. I'm just pissed that she didn't get naked.
The Lowdown:
If you watch this movie, then don't complain about having another hour and a half of your life when you are sitting on your death bed. This film just isn't worth the time and money. Just forget you even read this. OK.
