This movie starts with a teenage farmer boy, Paul Tannek (Jason Biggs) is leaving home to start at college in the big city. Unfortunately, he isn't accepted among the other students and is looked upon as the campus loser. He meets Dora Diamond (Mena Suvari)which is the only one that is nice to him, and he falls in love with her. Only problem is that she already has a boyfriend. She is secretly together with her english professor (Greg Kinnear). What she doesn't know is that the english professor is only using her and doesn't really care about her. Paul finds out and he face the dilemma of whether or not to tell the woman he love about his feelings for her, and the true feelings of her boyfriend...

Loser is the kinf of movie that you have seen before, but under a different name. It has no surprises, no twists, just the ordinary american college film about boy meets girl. As all the college movies they create an environment of sex and booze and place two popular good looking actors into the hole mess and let them fall in love with eachother. Even though there is nothing new about the movie at any level, most of us teenagers love to view these kind of movies.

The young actor Jason Biggs may have a promising career in front of him, (because of the American Pie hit) if he proves that he can do other roles besides being a teenage college student. His sidekick, Mena Suvari on the other hand will get far in the movie business. Compared to many other young actresses, she can act as well as look good. Because of the recognition she got from "American Beauty" and "American Pie" she has already secured her place in hollywood. They play good together and delivers a well performance. Not so much chemistry between them, but very few college movies manage to create that.

About the manuscript, cinematography, editing and music there isn't much to tell. The movie is as predictable as it can get. You know what will happen in the end before you have seen more than 10 minutes of the movie. I recommend this movie for teenagers only, adults and kids will get nothing out of watching this movie. Expect a standard but sweet movie performed by good-looking and talented young actors.
