Rollerball

I never saw the original of this movie, and seeing as this movie was geared toward the teenage demographic, I gather none of its target audience saw the original either. With as bad as this movie is, I have to wonder what the orignal was like. Usually studios remake good movies to make them more modern. But how do you make a science fiction film more modern?

Chris Klein, the star of this movie, was never made to be the star of an action movie. He should be typecast in the roles he started off doing, dumb jocks. He fit the roles he played in "Election" and "American Pie" but in this movie he shows that he's just a dumb actor. With every line he speaks he sounds like a moron, not to mention that he looks like he has Downs Syndrome. Rebecca Romjin-Stamos attepts to play a Russian, but she does it so horribly that you never understand a word she says throughout the whole movie. Jean Reno plays his usualo Euro-Trash role, LL Cool J is.. well LL Cool J, with a painfully horrible death scene.

The cinematopgraphy was amazingly awful. There's one whole scene in this movie where everything is green, like through night vision goggles, WHY? All that does is give the viewer a headache and there's really nothing worth seeing anyway. Usually if a scen in a movie takes place at night, there's still lighting, it's called susupension of disbelieve. But all the night vision stuff gave me a migrane. I couldn't watch it anymore. What bothered me most about this piece of garbage was ow stupid the characters were. They play a super violent sport and are shocked when someone gets hurt? They mistake a plane for a car! They are all so stupid!

There is no redeeming factor to this film. The only readon one would watch it would be to possibly get out of the rain, but surely the theater would be showing better stuff at the same time too. I would even pick that Britney Spears movie over this. Man, I hated "Rollerball."
