Scary Movie 2

     Following it's successful predecessor, Scary Movie 2 delivers more of what the original was, in the same extremely sick manner. The Wayans are back, after surviving the first film, along with a few returning cast members. Cindy Campbell, (Ana Faris) Buddy, (Christopher Materson-Malcom in the Middle) and a bunch of other people are brought to a mansion where they will become part of a sleeping disorders experiment. Sound familiar?

The original Scary Movie was a spin-off of the nineties slasher films, while the sequel focuses mainly on older classic horror films. The opening scene was the best, making fun of the exorcist, but the humor goes downhill from there, while the gross, perverted, and disgusting stuff goes up. Scary Movie 2 was much better than the original, but the laughter is cheap, and mostly comes from repulsive sights.

A few last minute add-ons were placed in, the Nike Basketball commercial which was quite hilarious, and a few other things that might not have been so funny. The wheel chair crash scene as a result of a pair of Firestone tires in my opinion, was inappropriate, and a few other things that didn't fit were put in to generate a few more cheap laughs.

The returning characters are the same from before, Shorty is a pot head, Ray is gay, and Cindy is just as annoying with her shreaky screams as she was in the last movie.

The main film that was made fun of was, "The House on Haunted Hill," and "The Haunting" which was a mistake, because the shorter skits with the other movies were much more entertaining.

If you were to plot the humor in Scary Movie 2 on a graph, it would look like the success of the internet stocks from a few years ago, to now, although the final minutes were pretty good.

Scary Movie 2 isn't enough to make your stomach hurt, or make you cry, but just a mediocre summer movie for the fans of the first one, and people who like to be grossed out. Scary Movie 2 is an improvement over the first one, but that's not saying much.
