The Jackal (Bruce Willis) is one of the best hitmans in the world, and is hired by the Russians to kill somebody in the United States. The person who is going to ger killed is not revealed.
The FBI people find out about this, and since they know nothing about the Jackal, they decide to go to the only person that knows something about him, Declan Mulqueen (Richard Gere), who is in jail at the time. They promise to reduce his time in jail if he helps them find the Jackal. Mulqueen has actually seen the Jackal, he told the FBI agent Carter Preston (Sidney Poitier), and it seems like they had confrontations in the past/
A big part of the story shows the techniques the Jackal uses to move from one place to another, how he buys the weapon he wants, how he tests it (a funny scene in here), how he uses multiple fake names and looks, etc. Those scenes show how one man can fool so many people and nobody notices it. Just thinking that such things can be done is scary, and cool at the same time.
FBI agent Valentina Koslova (Diane Venora) and Declan start a weird friendship, Declan seems to like her, although one side of her fice is a bit burned. While Agent Carter still doesn't trust Declan very much, not enough to give him a gun. The Jackal is about to do his move, and at the last moment they find out who is the person he's gonna kill, so they make an attemp to save her. After that, the Jackal tries to escape, but has Declan after him.
Telling the story line of this film is actually pretty easy and quick, there is not much to be told in a review. You'll probably guess how the film is gonna end, since while the movie developes the FBI gets closer and closer to the Jackal. It's an entertained action film that I enjoyed watching, though many people didn't think the same. The soundtrack is pretty good too.
